One Week, Six Days

wranglers

y'know how in television and movies there are different "wranglers?" like, puppet wranglers, dog wranglers, monkey wranglers, child wranglers etc... people responsible for the herding and organizing, the wiping of noses, the keeping of focus etc.

i need a wedding party wrangler. of the 17 people in my wedding party there are three bridesmaids in italy, one in east timor and hardly any of them who check (or at least respond to) their email whether or not they are in the country. groomsmen who promise to get their tuxedo measurements every time you see them but then don't, two flower girls and one ring bearer, all under 8, and not to mention the mixture of different temperaments going on; from the overly-organized to those of the, shall we say, more laid back disposition. It's not that i don't love them all in all their different ways or begrudge anyone their travels -- whether for work or play -- or the fact that most of us are just too busy to read/respond to email...it's just that I have no time to wrangle myself let alone the 17 other individuals involved in the wedding party. AND WE'RE DOWN TO 24 DAYS TO GET EVERYTHING DONE AND I MUST HAVE COMMUNICATION!!!!

i assume the job is similar to child or dog wrangling. kind but firm-handed and armed with treats. any takers?

the little things

so, most of the big things are taken care of, and now it's down to the small stuff. like shoe dyeing, filling out table cards, having nightmares that they moved the presidential elections to the 30th of October...

if anyone knows a good, reliable and inexpensive make-up artist, let me know.

The invites are in and we love them!!!! One might be coming to a mailbox near you soon so keep your eyes out!!!

in other news: school is back on again for both of us so... LET CRUNCH TIME BEGIN! guess you prolly won't hear much from us til D-day, hope everyone had a great summer. See ya in OCTOBER.

thank yous!

I sent out thank you notes last week to all of you who attended (or attended in spirit!) and gave me such lovely gifts! Two of the notes did get sent back to me due to my own silly clerical errors, so if you haven't yet gotten your note, don't worry they are back in the mail and you'll get them soon.

Shower Time!

today I had a surprise wedding shower! It was lots of fun and I was so happy (and touched) that so many people came out. It was a really fun day, and my mom worked so hard to make every detail perfect. Even my niece, rebecca put in a ton of work, and made beautiful beaded napkin rings that impressed everyone!. The food, of course made by my mom, was delicious, the company was divine and the setting perfect. I had a great time and now I truly CANNOT WAIT to celebrate mine and Geoff's big day with our loving friends and family. Thank you all :-)

Registering for Gifts

we've started registering, finally. We had talked about going to places off the beaten track, or at least places that weren't set up for gift registries, like little places in china town for our casual flatware, and cute little boutiques in brooklyn for ceramics and pottery and whatnots. but, we're not the kind of people who spend our days hunting up and down little streets all over the boroughs looking for neat finds. we're busy, yes, and we also are lazy when we're not. so, we took the typical route. ah well. what can you do...
